Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling adds radio-frequency energy to the traditional microneedling process, allowing us to treat deeper layers of the skin. The RF energy gently heats the skin, further boosting the production of collagen and producing faster, more dramatic results than microneedling alone. And by simply turning the RF off, the same device can be used to perform regular microneedling.
A Fairer, Firmer Face
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling is the latest technology developed to treat loose skin, skin texture changes, wrinkles, chin fat, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin conditions. Dr. Johnson has many years of experience using RF microneedling devices. SylfirmX, in her professional opinion and experience, is by far the best on the market.
Microneedling can be done to improve skin texture all over the body, not just the face. Schedule your consultation for RF microneedling in Fort Worth, TX, at 817 Surgical Arts.

Expectations
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling uses ultra-fine needles to introduce waves of thermal energy into the skin and soft tissues in order to encourage the body to repair itself. This stimulates the production of collagen and helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and so much more.
How is RF Microneedling Performed?
Step 1: Consultation
To prepare for your RF microneedling procedure, our aesthetic providers will ask about your medical history, examine your skin, and answer any questions you may have. During this consultation, we will discuss your skin concerns and goals. Dr. Johnson will provide instructions to follow prior to the procedure, which will include not taking certain medicines or supplements and avoiding certain skincare products.
Step 2: Procedure
Before RF microneedling, you’ll receive a topical anesthetic to ensure a painless procedure. Dr. Johnson selects the settings most appropriate for your skin concerns, such as the depth of the microneedles and the intensity of the radiofrequency energy. Depending on the treated area, the procedure may last 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
Step 3: Recovery
You may expect mild redness and swelling on the day of the procedure. Typically, any redness will resolve within 24 hours. Dr. Johnson will apply topical exosomes to the treated area at the end of the procedure to support the regenerative process. You can use cool compresses to soothe the skin if needed. Practice good sun protection and avoid abrasive topicals or treatments for at least 1 week.
RF Microneedling FAQs
The procedure works by creating micro-injuries in the skin with the help of tiny needles while simultaneously delivering radiofrequency energy into the dermis. This combination stimulates the body’s natural healing response and promotes collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, younger-looking skin.
Most RF microneedling devices on the market today use continuous wave RF, but at 817 Surgical Arts, we use the world’s first FDA-approved dual-wave RF microneedling device called SylfirmX. SylfirmX offers the traditional continuous wave of RF but has the added benefit of a pulse wave mode. The pulse wave mode is perfect for targeting pigment issues such as melasma, rosacea, and spider veins (telangiectasias).
Through the use of numbing cream and the ultra-fine needles of SylfirmX, the treatments are very well tolerated by our patients. Deeper microneedling treatments can be uncomfortable, so we typically apply a topical anesthetic ahead of time to reduce any discomfort. More superficial treatments are well-tolerated with no anesthetic.
Some patients see results in as little as 1 treatment, but most will see optimal results after a series of 3 treatments. You can see your full results after 6 months.
Exosome regenerative complex is a mixture of lyophilized exosomes with potent growth factors, coenzymes, peptides, vitamins, amino acids, and minerals. When applied topically, they have anti-inflammatory properties to reduce redness and swelling after your RF microneedling treatment.
